Andy Kosowski’s work explores the tension between control and instability, refinement and awkwardness, material weight and digital immediacy. Through layered drawing, painting, animation, and installation, he constructs environments populated by hybrid figures, fragmented narratives, and shifting visual registers. His practice moves between tactile, hand-built surfaces and imperfect digital animation, allowing traditional mark-making to exist alongside constructed visual systems.

His process often begins with a loose conceptual thread that develops through repetition, revision, and improvisation. Forms emerge through accumulation, erasure, layering, and interruption, resulting in images that hover between recognition and invention. Humor and visual dissonance operate as subtle disruptions, complicating expectations of finish and coherence while inviting sustained attention.

Kosowski considers how artwork unfolds over time and through physical space.
